While we believe middle- aged women are better at pretty much everything, we can now definitively say that they have better memories than their male counterparts. After studying more than 9,600 middle-aged adults, a research team at the University of London concluded that women can recall words both faster and more accurately.
During the study, the researchers asked participants to remember 10 words, then recite them after two minutes and again five minutes later. Women significantly outperformed the men in both cases, especially on the second recall test.
According to the study authors, “Previous research has produced similar results but this is the first time that such a large number of middle-aged men and women of the same age have taken memory tests of this kind in the UK”.
Though studies have not been conducted on every age group of women, in general women of every age have better memories!
